Benefits of Honey

Honey is a sweet fluid produced by ‘honey bees’. Honey is known for its effectiveness in instantly boosting the performance, endurance and reduces muscle fatigue of athletes.
Most bacteria do not grow in honey because of its low water content.

Honey contains ‘botulinum endospores’, so it should not be given to childrens under 1 year of age.

Lemon Rice - Recipe

Thanks to Mrs. Abha for sending this recipe. Rice lovers will definitely be finding it interesting and tasty.

Ingredients:

  • Rice - 1½ cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - ½ tbsp
  • Red chillies (dried) - 2 to 4
  • Chana Dal - 1 tbsp
  • Peanuts - ½ cup
  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  • Salt - To taste
  • Lemon juice - ¼ cup
  • Coconut (grated) - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 8-10

Preparation:

1. Wash & soak rice for about 30 minutes. Drain & then boil in plenty of water. Drain & allow it to cool.

2. Heat oil in a pan. Add dried red chillies & chana dal. Cook until the color of dal changes to light brown.

3. Add peanuts, turmeric powder & mustard seeds. Let mustard seeds crackle, & then add curry leaves. Fry for 1-2 minutes.

4. Add cooked rice, salt & lemon juice.

5. Garnish with grated coconut.

Your Lemon rice is ready to eat and serve...

Cholai ke Laddu - Recipe

Well we got this recipe from our first male user, so a special Thanks goes to Mr. Balwant for sending this recipe. So let’s have some sweet this time…

Ingredients:

  • 250 gm Ramdana/Cholai (Amaranth)
  • 750 gm Jaggery (Gur)
  • 3 1/2 cups water

Preparation:

1. Heat a pan to very hot and add the cholai.

2. It will start popping up almost immediately. When popped up, remove from pan and keep aside.

3. Place jaggery and water in a pan, and dissolve jaggery over low heat.

4. When dissolved, increase the heat and boil it and cook over high heat till a "two" thread consistency is reached.

5. Mix cholai into the mixture.

6. Take it off the heat.

7. Let it cool enough to handle, make round balls moistening the hands if sticking.

8. Leave to cool.

And your cholai Laddus are ready to serve...

Chicken Manchurian - Recipe

Thanks to Ms. Priyanka for sending this recipe. So finally we have some Non-Vegetarian taste especially for Chicken-lovers.


Ingredients:

  • 1 kg small pieces of Chicken
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • 1½ tablespoon All-purpose flour (Maida)
  • 2 tablespoon Corn flour dissolved in ½ cup water
  • 1 table spoon Soya Sauce
  • ½ table spoon White Vinegar
  • 1 Beaten Egg
  • 1 tablespoon crushed Ginger
  • 1½ tablespoon crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon crushed green chillies
  • 2 tablespoon chopped Coriander leaves
  • 2 Onion cut into long pieces
  • ¼ teaspoon Ajinomoto
  • Chilli powder, salt, black pepper to taste

Preparation:

1. Mix the all purpose flour, beaten egg, salt, chilli powder, black pepper powder to make a paste.

2. Dip the chicken pieces into the paste for few minutes; deep fry till golden brown.

3. Now for Manchurian sauce, heat a little oil in a pan and fry the onions, ginger and garlic pieces.

4. Add green chillies. Fry for a minute.

5. Reduce heat; add soya sauce, vinegar and ajinomoto and let it boil for 4-5 minutes.

6. Add corn flour mixed with water and give one boil.

7. Add the fried chicken pieces to the boiling mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes.

8. Add coriander leaves. Serve hot.

Tomato Paratha

Today, let’s try another taste of paratha. This one would be a bit sweet but will taste really good with some spicy chutney or pickle.

Ingredients:

  • Wheat flour - 2 cups
  • Tomato Sauce (paste) – 1 cup
  • Red Chilly powder - 1tsp
  • Cilantro (Hara Dhania Patta) - ½ cup
  • Salt to taste
  • ghee or oil to shallow fry

How to Prepare…

1. Boil the tomato sauce, chilly powder, cilantro, salt for 10-15 minutes till it turns to a paste.

2. Add this paste to wheat flour little by little and make a soft smooth dough.

3. Roll a lump of dough as for paratha.

4. Cook the paratha on the tava (pan) from both sides.

Your tomato paratha is ready to serve and eat.
You can serve it with some pickle, chutney or with any vegetable.

Malai Paratha (Cream Paratha)

Today, let’s taste some different paratha. For this paratha, you do not have to spend time to make some stuffing, still it will taste differently.

Ingredients:

  • Wheat flour -1/2 kg
  • ½ litre water
  • 2 tbsp. ghee
  • 1 cup malai (Milk-cream)
  • 1tsp Red Chilly powder
  • 2tsp Salt
  • ghee or oil to shallow fry
How to Prepare…

1. Put 2 tbsp ghee in the flour and make a soft smooth dough using water.

2. Roll a lump of dough as for paratha.

3. Put 2 tsp malai over it.

4. Spread a pinch of red chilly powder and salt.

5. Roll again to full size.

6. Cook the paratha on the tava (pan) from both sides.

Your malai paratha is ready to serve and eat.
You can serve it with some pickle or curd or with any vegetable.

Chilled lassi - Recipe

Now let’s have some recipes and mostly you would find instant ones, that one can make easily and without spending much time…

So lets start with chilled lassi (yoghurt shake).

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups yogurt
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 tablespoon sugar (or as per taste)
  • 6-8 Ice cubes

How to Prepare…

1. Pour a cup of water with yogurt.

2. Add sugar.

3. Churn yogurt till it becomes smooth.

4. Add crushed ice.

5. Again churn it for few seconds (10-20 seconds).

Your chilled lassi is now ready to serve.
To add taste you may also add some small pieces of Pista (Pistachio Nuts) while serving.
